2025 Virtual Career Development Workshop

Join us Saturday, August 16th, from 11 am-1:00 pm CST, for the JETAA Chicago Career Development Workshop! If you are a JET alum currently navigating the job market after JET, considering a career switch, or simply pondering what’s next for you, your attendance is welcome! This event is designed to bring together JETAA members seeking career advice at all stages of their career trajectory.

Our speaker will be Kasia Lynch from Ikigai Connections, who will be able to answer your questions about finding a new position.

The workshop theme is Be your best advocate: Marketing your JET experience for the US job search.  The workshop content will focus on the following:

• Resumes: keywords, master vs custom resume

• Cover letters: use this opportunity to connect the dots for the company

• The actual job search: what’s out there (with examples)

• Connect with the JET alum network to get inspiration (with examples). What are realistic expectations?

• Networking: local US-Japan events, meishi

The first ten people to sign up AND attend the event will receive a thirty-minute

one-on-one session with Kasia, free of charge, on the topic of their choice.

Preference will be given to JETAA Chicago members.

JETAA Wisconsin - Outgoing JET Q&A Session

JETAA Wisconsin is holding an Outgoing JET Q&A Session. This Q&A Session is virtual and open to short-listed and alternate JETs and alumni mentors from any state.  The information we give will help you to make your best first impression and hopefully make tackling your new experience much easier.  

The Q&A session will cover a range of topics, and topic requests are welcome.

2025 Survival Series: Mitsuwa Marketsweep

Immerse yourself in the ultimate hands-on learning experience with our "Mitsuwa Market Sweep", the final event of our Survival Series for 2025 Outgoing JETs! Designed for newly hired English teachers, this exciting event will familiarize you with Japanese ingredients, products, and essential living skills. Teaming up with an alumni mentor, you'll navigate local markets and stores, learning how to find everything you need to thrive in your new home. The fun thing is it will be a scavenger hunt! Best team wins a prize.

3pm-3:15: Introductions, Scavenger Hunt explanation, Teams Breaks out

3:15-4PM: Scavenger Hunt

4-4:15PM: Results

4:15-5pm: Q&A + Dinner (optional at Mitsuwa food court).
