JETAA Chicago hosts regular monthly events, such as our Japanese Language Series, and semi-regular events, such as our Book Club meetings, which take place every few motnhs. Take a look at the highlights of some of our monthly events below.
Japanese Language Series
JETAA Chicago hosts a monthly Japanese language night focused on learning and practice with the Japanese language. These events are aimed at learners of all ages and all levels, and are currently held over zoom. Language nights often incorporate language-focused schoolyard games, party games, chit-chat, and some more focused educational activities as well. If you are looking to keep your Japanese sharp after years in Japan, or if you are just starting out on your Nihongo journey, these events are for you!
The JETAA Chicago Book Club is an opportunity for book lovers and fans of Japan to get together and express their affections through thoughtful and spirited discussion! In partnership with the JASC Young Professional Committee, our book club meets every few months to discuss a book for around an hour after work. Each meeting focuses on a different book that is related to Japan through the author or subject matter. We read both fiction and non-fiction, novels and short story compilations, and a variety of genres. Picks are usually announced a month or two in advance to give everyone ample time to read and collect their thoughts. The meetings are open to anyone, so keep an eye out for the next announcement and join us!
