One of the ongoing projects that the leadership board has been working on for years is a full overhaul of our chapter’s bylaws. As we are nearing the end of this process, due in large part to the efforts of our current Treasurer, one of the major issues we have decided to address is the timeline for our chapter’s elections.
Our elections have historically been held at an awkward time of year. Situated a month before our Career Development Workshop and only a few months before the annual Shinnenkai (our chapter’s single largest undertaking), the timeline has led to issues with continuity in planning for the officers transitioning on and off the board.
After several discussions over the last few months, as a part of the bylaw update, we have decided to move elections to March of 2021. From that point forward, the elections for our chapter will be held every March, with that month being used as a transition period for the new officers to learn from the officers stepping down.
We will be discussing the change and the reasoning behind it in more detail at the upcoming board meeting. If you have any questions, please join us tonight! You can also contact the board directly by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org.
