Don't forget - JASC YPC and JETAA Chicago November Book Club Meeting!

There is still time to join us for our November Book Club meeting on Wednesday, November 17th, from 6-7 pm CST! Be sure to pick up a copy of the book asap so you have time to finish. Prefer an ebook or audiobook option? Use Libby to rent a digital version from your local public library!

Our book club will focus on highlighting voices and stories with a strong connection to Japan. For our third meeting we have chosen Daughters of the Samurai. Written by Janice P. Nimura, the book opens in 1871, and follows the story of five young girls who were sent by the Japanese government to the United States. Their mission: learn Western ways and return to help nurture a new generation of enlightened men to lead Japan.

Thanks to the efforts of the JASC, our discussion will be joined by the author herself, Janice P. Nimura! To learn more about Janice, click here!
