As a reminder, this event will be focused on giving outgoing JETs the chance to discuss how to navigate areas of diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) while in Japan, as well as how said areas will impact one's experience, such as being a minority, double-minority, and even novel minority. The panel will be led by JET Alumni who have navigated areas of DEI and are also open to answering questions.

Also, JETAA Chicago is in need of JET alumni mentors to help educate and onboard the next generation of outgoing JETs! Interested? Fill out the Alumni Mentor In-take Form!

*Note: All alumni who register must fill out the 2022 Alumni In-take Form.

Being located in the Chicagoland area is not required to be a mentor. Any of our alumni in Illinois, Wisconsin, and Indiana are welcome and wanted!

We are the Teutizoku U.S.-Japan Innovation Lab and we are building a community of professionals, entrepreneurs, and creators doing Japan and U.S. related work. We organize fireside chats with extraordinary people doing extraordinary things. This event is no exception. Author Alisa Freedman will be leading a discussion on her recent book "Japan on American TV." Register on our website for the meeting link and book materials (introduction and discussion questions): https://teutizoku.com/projects/innovation-lab/

This month, we're celebrating outgoing JETs, with a focus on games and quizzes to make sure our next generation JETs have their bases covered for communication in JET! It's not going to be drills and worksheets though. We'll be making it much more fun and memorable. Topics to be covered: mood and communication in Japan, vocabulary that should make your ears perk up, and the keys to your livelihood in Japan (banking, haircuts, checkout counters, taxis, making reservations, and more)!

Never attended before? Unsure of your proficiency level? That’s okay! All levels of experience with Japanese are welcome! If you're curious, don't hesitate to sign up, or contact Rurik for more information.
