Living in a foreign country can be difficult, especially when navigating areas of health and wellness, such as mental and physical health ! Join us in discussing how to maintain one's health and wellness while abroad with JET Alumni who have been in your shoes !

Ikebana Walk with the Japanese Culture Center in Chicago

The Japanese Culture Center, in partnership with the Lakeview Roscoe Village Chamber of Commerce and Japanese Arts Foundation, is hosting an Ikebana Walking Exhibition July 8th and 9th in the Southport Corridor with Ikebana instructors, artists, and students will install flower arrangements from two different schools of Ikebana taught at the center; Ikenobo and Ohara Ryu. In addition, there will be Ikebana themed, avant-garde Japanese calligraphy and origami flower arrangements on display at some participating locations.

Diary of a Void - Book Club - JETAA Chicago & JASC YPC

The Book Club returns Wednesday, July 26th! Join JETAA Chicago and the JASC YPC for a discussion of Diary of a Void. Written by Emi Yagi, July's pick is described as a thrillingly subversive story about a woman in Japan who avoids harassment at work by perpetuating, for nine months and beyond, the lie that she's pregnant. Be sure to pick up a copy of the book (available in our local library!) and then join us for an evening of casual discussion in a virtual space via Zoom! Registrations are limited, so grab a spot while you can!
