A beautiful day greeted the large crowd that gathered to celebrate spring and the 2024 “Hanami” flower viewing event at the Garden of the Phoenix this past May. Smiles bloomed across the crowd at the captivating taiko drums and traditional dance performances, koi fish lazily swam about in the ponds, and visitors crossed the garden’s newly replaced Moon Bridge.

Two of our JETAA Chicago leaders showed their support with our partners and volunteered at the crafts, arts, and games stations. Claudia was busy with the Origami Table, where Samurai hats were pretty popular because of Japan's Children's Day. Sara challenged visitors to test their skills at the game of Kendama, where many people of all ages came to try. Fellow JET Alumni attended too, showing off their vibrant kimonos while enjoying the events and strolling in the garden.

The JETAA Chicago Summer Nomikai returns! And in true enkai fashion, we're doing it on a Wednesday!

Join your fellow alumni, from 10+ years returned to the new 2024 outgoing class, for an evening of fun in downtown Chicago. Come see old friends, build new relationships and swap stories about your time in Japan or what you hope to do once there. This is a great opportunity for outgoing JETs and alumni alike to meet and network. The event will be held at Lizzie McNeill's on their outdoor patio (weather permitting, if not, we will be inside) from 7:00- 9:00 PM on Wednesday, June 26!

Enjoy the wonders of the 飲み放題 (nomihōdai) again or for the first time! Each ticket includes a two-hour party package with soft drinks, draft beer, house wine, and well cocktails. JETAA Chicago will also be providing light appetizers for guests. The cost is $35 per person.

Space is limited, so be sure to purchase your ticket today! This event is for 2024 outgoing JETs and JET alumni only.
