This March, Lyric Unlimited is proud to present the Midwest premiere of An American Dream, a contemporary American opera that asks the question: What would you do if you were forced from your home?

Set during World War II, this opera explores the lives of two women: a Japanese American uprooted from her home, and a German-Jewish immigrant preoccupied by those she left behind. Cherished items symbolize home for the displaced and incarcerated.

Matthew Ozawa directs this intimate, new production featuring a cast of seven and a 15-piece orchestra led by Daniela Candillari.

A free, pre-opera talk will begin one hour before curtain, and the

audience is invited to a post-performance discussion.

Field Museum

12:30 pm - 2:30 pm

$3 Members / $5 Non-members

Purchase tickets here.

Come join members of the YPC for a scavenger hunt adventure at the Field Museum! The scavenger hunt will consist of exploring the museum in search of clues to trivia based upon the museum and its exhibits.

The questions will be in both English and Japanese (and you can respond in either language), giving you an opportunity to practice your language skills and maybe even learn a few new words along the way. Registration can be made as a group (max of 4 people) or individually, where you will be assigned to a group, so you can sign up with your friends or make new friends on the hunt. Note that the answers to questions will be a mix of both writing and photographs taken of your finds, so you will certainly be put to the test!

The event is open to YPC/JETAA/ AAAYA members and non-members in hopes that everyone can come together to network, share their knowledge of trivia, and most importantly, have fun!
