Celebrate the Works of Mamoru Oshii, Ghost in the Shell Director

Join AnimeChicago at the Japanese Culture Center to celebrate the groundbreaking and cinematic storytelling of Mamoru Oshii on Saturday, June 29th. Known for his deeply philosophical and sweeping epics like Ghost in the Shell, Patlabor, and Urusei Yatsura, Oshii’s work is focuses on visual-storytelling and breathtaking action sequences.

Then join us for our Anime Happy Hour at the Logan Theatre with Van Paugam, setting the scene with music from the Ghost in the Shell OSTs! Finally, wrap up our day-long celebration with a screening of Ghost in the Shell 2: Innocence.

Come cheer for Chicago’s very own professional women's soccer team, the Chicago Red Stars, and Yuki Nagasato!

Nagasato was part of the National Team from 2004-2016 and received 132 caps and 58 goals while representing Japan. She was part of the World Cup Champions in 2011 and Runner-Up squad in 2015.

Stay immediately after the game for a private meetand greet session with Nagasato on the field. The meet and greet will be available for JASC ticket purchasers only.

Support Japan's Team at the FIVB Volleyball Nations League

16 teams from the International Volleyball Federation (FIVB), representing countries from around the world, will be competing in the FIVB Volleyball Nations League. The 2019 FIVB Volleyball Nations League’s qualifying rounds for Pool 13 (USA, Japan, China, and Canada) will be held in Hoffman Estates, Illinois.

These matches are important ahead of the upcoming 2020 Tokyo Olympics. Please come to show support for the Japanese Men’s Team during their matches in Illinois!
