JASC Onigiri Action Illinois Challenge!

The Japan American Society of Chicago is supporting Table for Two's annual Onigiri Action by hosting their own Illinois challenge from October 5th to November 5th!

Participants can make an onigiri related to Illinois, upload photos to any of their social media accounts, and use the hashtags: #OnigiriAction #StateOnigiri #IL #ILOnigiri. If participants post using all 4 hashtags, they will automatically enter the national Table for Two and local Japan America Society of Chicago challenges. Prizes will be awarded for both national and local competitions.

Daughters of the Samurai - JASC YPC and JETAA Chicago Book Club

A new twist on an old favorite! The JETAA Chicago and Japan America Society of Chicago YPC Book Club continues this November!

Join us for our next meeting on Wednesday, November 17th, from 6-7 pm CST with a special guest! Our book club will focus on highlighting voices and stories with a strong connection to Japan. For our third meeting we have chosen Daughters of the Samurai. Written by Janice P. Nimura, the book opens in 1871, and follows the story of five young girls who were sent by the Japanese government to the United States. Their mission: learn Western ways and return to help nurture a new generation of enlightened men to lead Japan.

Thanks to the efforts of the JASC, our discussion will be joined by the author herself, Janice P. Nimura! To learn more about Janice, click here!

Sign up for the book club here!

Be sure to pick up a copy of the book and then join us for an evening of casual discussion in a virtual space via Zoom! Registrations are limited, so grab a spot while you can! If you have any questions, please reach out to info@jetaachicago.com.

Disney Trivia - Rescheduled!

We have rescheduled our Disney Trivia night to Friday, October 15th, 7-9 pm CST! Thank you for your patience with the date change.

This time, we'll be celebrating our love of all things Disney. If you were looking for an excuse to marathon all your favorites (not that you need one), this is it! For this event, we're keeping it simple with the classic game format: twenty players head-to-head. We will also be focusing on animated movies, rather than the full catalogue. May the biggest nerd triumph!

We are limiting the number of competitors, so only the first 20 RSVPs for the Trivia Participant ticket will be able to officially compete.

*This event is for JET alumni only.
