2022 May Open Board Meeting + May the Fourth Nomikai

Join us this May for discussions on upcoming events and more in the new term! Our May Open Board Meeting will be a virtual video conference only.

In order to honor the special day (May the Fourth...but on the Second!), the monthly meeting will be immediately followed by a virtual happy hour with a fun Star Wars twist! The meeting starts at 6:30 pm CST and the happy hour will begin around 7:30 pm (or earlier if the meeting is finished sooner). Relax with fellow JETs for a night of laid back conversation and fun group activities. Join us for one or both! The official 'KANPAI' will be at 7:45 pm.

Our Open Board Meetings are where we get together to discuss events from the past month, any upcoming in the near future, and news relevant to JETAA. Japanese Language Series: April Fun & Games!

Join us Tuesday, April 26th from 6-7 pm CST, for the first JETAA Chicago Japanese Language Series event of spring! This time, we will be having fun with kanji crosswords, and then battling it out in Powerpoint Karaoke! ぜひ来てください！

The Japanese Language Series events are intended to bring together JETAA members and supporters who want to stay engaged with Japanese language learning and use.

Never played before? Unsure of your proficiency level? That’s okay! All levels of experience with Japanese are welcome!

Journey to Tohoku: Aomori with the Japan America Society of Chicago

Learn about Aomori's rich history, tourist destinations to visit each season, local restaurants, traditional crafts and other attractions.

About the speaker

Emily is a JET Program Coordinator for International Relations (CIR) at the Aomori Prefectural Government Tourism Promotion and International Exchange Division. She grew up in New York and graduated from the University of Massachusetts Amherst with a double major in Japanese Language & Culture and Linguistics. Though she's still in her first year as a CIR, Emily is excited to share all the wonderful things that she has learned about Aomori since arriving in September.
