Job Type: Contract (Freelance)

Compensation: $50/article


USJETAA is seeking graphic designers to create layouts and designs for our JETs on Japan publication series.


JETs on Japan features a selection of policy-oriented articles authored by JET alumni working across diverse sectors who share their perspectives on US-Japan relations. USJETAA will be compiling these articles into a digital Flipbook featuring all JETs on Japan articles published this calendar year. USJETAA is searching for graphic designers to create layouts for the individual articles that will make up this Flipbook.


Selected designers will have a thorough understanding of branding and marketing and be able to find the right style and layout for this policy-oriented publication. Designers will work with USJETAA staff to incorporate feedback and edits as requested. Please review some of our recent publications to get an idea of the type of articles that are typically published as part of this series.


Required skills and qualifications:

  • Experience or interest in creating layout(s) for a policy-oriented publication

  • Experience (academic, personal, or professional) with design software, including Illustrator, InDesign, etc..

  • Ability to meet deadlines

  • JET Program experience strongly desired

This event is intended to bring together JETAA members who are looking for career advice at all stages of their career trajectory.


Our speaker will be Emily Frank from The Career Catalyst who can answer your questions about advancing your professional plans.


The workshop will consist of a practical presentation on Resume Building and how to sell your JET experience.


The first five people to sign up AND attend the event will receive a free 30-minute one-on-one session with Emily free of charge on the topic of their choice. Preference will be given to JETAA Chicago members.
